Karen is a mediator with extensive experience in Family Law, elder law, employment and construction disputes and residential foreclosures.
Karen has been engaged in the practice of law, with an emphasis on all aspects of Family Law and Criminal Law for over 30 years. She has been mediating since 1993. She is a member of, and the immediate past chair of the Nebraska State Bar Association Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee; a member of the Association of Attorney Mediators, and a presenter at national meetings, a Master with Inns of Court; a member of the Nebraska Supreme Court High Conflict Resolution work group; and a member of the Committee in Inquiry.
She is a former Douglas County Assistant Public Defender and worked on domestic violence, abuse, neglect, status offenses and dependency cases in Juvenile court, as well as Appellate work. Additionally, she has been a Court Appointed Guardian ad litem in over 750 cases in District Court in both Douglas and Sarpy Counties, as well as a Court Appointed Parenting Plan Mediator and Criminal Justice Act (CJA) attorney. She has also represented employers in workplace conflicts at the administrative level.
Further, her law practice includes family law (elder, paternity, child support, divorce, custody, etc.,) and criminal law both at the state and federal level. Karen has a wealth of experience and is well respected in the legal community.
